The cat is one of the first animal in the world to be domesticated  as a pet.Records show that they were kept as pet by the Egyptians before being exported to other parts of the world.Today there is not a country in the world where cats are not found.They  seems to have found a place in our hearts and homes too.Actually, cat are quite useless.They cannot even be thought tricks or toilet trained unlike their rivals - dogs.For inexplicable reasons, humans seem to love these 'cute' animals though all they do is eat and lie about the whole day and do  nothing.Why then do humans love cats so much?

Cats are not known for showing any great love towards man unlike dogs, which are known for showing any great devotion.The world is full of heroic stories of dogs,but not even one about cats.There are no stories about cats which loved their masters enough to sacrifice their live for them.Cats do not love anyone at all although, usually when they are hungry, they will rub themselves against your legs to attract your attention or jump into your lap to seek warmth.This is not love but pure selfishness.Cats are not even domestic enough to follow their masters when they move house.In fact they are known to be more attached to the home that to people.When people move house house ,cats would prefer not to move.If the new owners fed them,they would just continue to stay there.They would not even think about their old owners.Dog's on the other hand are known to have traced their masters down to their new homes if they are left behind.

Whoever heard of a cat being house trained?Dogs can be toilet trained.As for cats, if the master wants the cat not to be its toilet everywhere,the master has to provide the sand pit.In other words the master is not the master;the cat is.How often has anyone seen a cat being trained to sit up and beg or roll over and play dead?Dogs yes,cat never!They just seem to be very independent creatures which have minds of their own.They go where they want and do what they please.If the master wants to do things to please cats, it is acceptable to the cat.
It is difficult to see the reason for humans to love cats, enough to provide for them in their wills or even leaving fortunes to them,We can only speculate, Perhaps there is something maternal in all of us to want to baby cats.After all cats never grow so big that we cannot carry and cuddle them.We can imagine we are parents, even if we are single or after our children have grown up and left the nest, and cuddle and fuss over cats.This would be a good outlet for our loves.Whatever our reasons may be,cats certainly benefit from them.
